We, at Collins Barrow - Sudbury-Nipissing LLP / SRL, have always been committed to protecting the privacy of our employees.  No personal, financial or business information is released to a third party without your consent or knowledge.

Our obligations as Chartered Accountants are governed, in part, by the Rules of Professional Conduct, which govern the operation of our practices.  These rules already guarantee the privacy and confidentiality of your information.

Effective January 1st, 2004, new federal and provincial privacy legislation comes into effect across the country.  The federal legislation is known as the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).  This legislation requires the documentation and formalization of policies and procedures to be adopted by all businesses collecting private information.  Accordingly, we are writing to you to outline our privacy policies and to assure you of our commitment to maintaining your privacy and the security of your information. We may collect and use personal and financial information for the following purposes:

  •  To pay you and comply with taxation and other returns as may be required for various governmental     and other regulatory purposes.
  • To provide group benefits and report to the group benefit supplier.
  • To report to various professional associations governing boards as required by their professional          code of conduct.
  • To comply with various governmental and other regulatory agencies as required by law.
  • Disclosure of Information

    Collins Barrow – Sudbury-Nipissing LLP / SRL will only disclose information for the reason that it was collected unless you give us your consent to disclose it for other reasons.  Any additional consent provided to us by you shall be documented appropriately in our files.

    Each and every one of our employees, partners and contractors is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all personal information to which they have access. Our employees are trained to know and respect our privacy policy, and compliance with our policies and procedures for protecting personal information is a condition of their employment.

    Retention Accuracy and Safeguarding

    In order to preserve the information for governmental and professional purposes, and to serve you better, we will retain and safeguard your information for as long as we determine is necessary, even if you are no longer an employee.

    We are committed to maintaining accurate information and urge you to notify us promptly of any changes in your personal information.

    We will use appropriate technologies and maintain high security standards to ensure the protection of your information.

    Openness and Accessibility

    Your personal and financial information maintained in our office is available for you to review, verify and correct if necessary.  We commit to make the proper changes and if appropriate to communicate these changes to other parties.
